Feature Overview:
Logbook Customers can now automatically capture temperature readings using the Cooper-Atkins Blue2 thermometer. Logbook Task Lists with temperature controls will automatically log temperature data through the supported thermometer and dynamically display the results.
Benefits of this Feature:
The Logbook/Blue2 thermometer integration reduces the time it takes to capture and record temperatures, promotes better compliance with HACCP principles, reduces human transcription error, and ultimately increases accountability.
What to Look Out For:
Getting Started:
The Logbook Task List/Bluetooth integration is simple and requires minimal configuration to get started.
- Task Lists with temperature controls will auto-detect if the Cooper Atkins Bluetooth instrument is turned-on.
- Upon detection, green Bluetooth temperature buttons will appear alongside the temperature control (See image above).
- Once the probe is inserted into the item for a temperature reading, clicking on the green Bluetooth button will automatically record the temperature reading on the Thermometer Control for that specific Task List item.
- A blue Bluetooth indicator will be displayed to show that the reading was done with the thermometer.
- At this point, you have the ability to override the temperature reading by selecting the control and entering a revised temperature. The blue Bluetooth indicator will disappear upon a manual override.

Blue2 Settings
We recommend that you download the Cooper Atkins Blue2 Reader app from the app store to customize the Bluetooth Thermometer settings to meet your needs. We also recommend that the Auto-Off and Sleep settings be increased to the time it will take to complete a Task List within one session to avoid having to re-pair with the thermometer device.
Recommended Step-by-Step Process
- If you have not done so already, reach out to the customer care team at Hotschedules so they can enable the appropriate permissions needed to use the Blu2 thermometer.
- Make sure the Bluetooth instrument is enabled as shown above (under Mobile Settings).
- Make sure that Task Lists with Temperature Controls have enough column width space to accommodate the Bluetooth button and Bluetooth indicator. At a minimum we recommend that the column width of a temperature control is 15% of Task List width (at least 2 additional block increases from the default column width).
- Log into HotSchedules using credentials for a store level user.
- Navigate to Task Lists.
- Select a Task List with Temperature Controls on it.
- Turn on the Bluetooth Blue2 Temperature Instrument.
a. See that light is flashing blue. This means that the instrument is paired and is continuously sending temperature data.
Note: If the light on the instrument is flashing Green. It is still trying to pair.
Note: If the light on the instrument is flashing yellow, it is in light mode and still paired, but not sending a temperature - The application will also display a banner with the temperature at the top of the screen. This allows you to watch the temperature stabilize before recording.
- Insert probe on the item to take the temperature.
- Click on Green Bluetooth button next to the Task List Item.
- The Temperature Control will populate with the temperature. We advise that you wait a few seconds to stabilize the temperature prior to taking the reading.
- Move to the next Task List Temperature Control Item and repeat steps 6-9.
- Once you are done and exit the Task List, the instrument will automatically unpair.
