Once the handheld device shows as “Connected” in Windows Mobile Device Center, Adaco Mobile can be installed. The installation file for Adaco Mobile installs on the handheld device and the PC at the same time.
To Install Adaco Mobile:
The very last step of the installation installs it on the PC.
On Windows 10
Follow the steps as per Windows 7 but once the install is compete:
On Windows XP:

During the installation, .NET Framework 2.0, SQL Server Compact 3.5, and Adaco Mobile will be installed on the handheld device.
Troubleshooting
If any errors are encountered, it will likely happen during Syncing for the first time.
Listed below are several error messages that may appear, and the steps that should be taken.
“Adaco.net is not installed on this machine”
This error occurs if the OS is 64 bit.
“Unspecified Error”
This error indicates the database file has become corrupt. Typically this occurs when users remove the handheld device from the cradle before the Sync has actually finished.
To resolve this issue:
This issue occurs if the handheld device was left out of the cradle and the battery drained completely, having not been charging.
To resolve this issue:
Adaco Mobile icon was never on handheld device (after installation)
This means that the Adaco Mobile cab file was not moved or initialized during installation.
This can be fixed by copying the AdacoMobile.cab file from the PC to the handheld device.
The location on the PC depends on operating system. Please see directories below:
On Windows 7
- First install SQL Server Compact 3.5 (must be this exact version)

- Next, install Windows Mobile Device Center (obtained from Microsoft directly)

- Then, plug in the handheld device to complete the Windows Mobile Device Center installation and to automatically have the handheld drivers installed

- Go to File > Mobile Device > Mobile Setup
- Select Setup next to the top option (Windows Mobile Devices), as this is not an Android device
- The installation file can either be run immediately or saved and then run

Follow the steps as per Windows 7 but once the install is compete:
- Right click on Start and go to Computer Management > Services & Applications > Services
- Scroll down and right click on Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity
- Go to Properties > Log On
- Switch to Local System account and check Allow service to interact with desktop
- Select OK
On Windows XP:
- First install ActiveSync and SQL Server Compact 3.5 (Must be this version of SQL)

- Then plug in the handheld device to complete the installation of its drivers through Active Sync
- To Install Adaco Mobile, login to Adaco on the PC and go to File > Mobile Device > Mobile Setup
- Choose the top option, as this is not an Android device
- The installation file can either be run immediately or saved and then run

- Use the Windows button and search for and run regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node. Adaco should display in here.
- Right-click on Adaco and select Export
- Name it anything and save to the desktop or somewhere else convenient
- Open the file in Notepad and remove the portion of the path containing “Wow6432node”
- So the path should actually be “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adaco”
- Save the file
- Double click on the registry file to import it automatically into the Registry
- Adaco can then be relaunched and the handheld device synced
“Unspecified Error”
This error indicates the database file has become corrupt. Typically this occurs when users remove the handheld device from the cradle before the Sync has actually finished.
To resolve this issue:
- Open ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center and explore the contents of the handheld device
- Navigate to My Documents
- Rename or delete the EclipseMobile.sdf or AdacoMobile.sdf file.
- Reopen Adaco and try to Sync the handheld device
- The message “No Setup Information found” should display. This is fine - it just indicates there is no database file on the device yet
This issue occurs if the handheld device was left out of the cradle and the battery drained completely, having not been charging.
To resolve this issue:
- Plug the handheld device into the PC
- Open Windows Mobile Device Center/Active Sync
- Navigate to Programs > Add/Remove Programs
- 3 programs should be listed, and Adaco Mobile will not have a check mark next to it
- Add the check mark and then continue. This will reinstall it back on the handheld device.

- Windows XP – C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\AdacoMobile
- Windows 7 – C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\AdacoMobile
- Once the AdacoMobile.cab file is copied, explore the device either via ActiveSync (XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows 7/Vista)
- Navigate to the below path and paste the AdacoMobile.cab file there
- On the device itself, run the AdacoMobile.cab file
- Install to the default directory. There is no need to type anything or navigate to another directory
- Go back to the PC and Sync the handheld device to make sure it is usable and does not encounter any errors
