Overview
Meal & Break Planning can be configured in one of two ways, depending on your organization's Above Store Console (ASC) configuration.
- If Apply Meals/Breaks to Shifts is enabled, meals and breaks are scheduled directly from the shift editor.
- If this option is disabled, meals and breaks are recorded in the Roster Report.
Contact your system administrator if you are unsure which configuration your organization uses.
Scheduling Meals and Breaks in the Shift Editor
If your organization has Apply Meals/Breaks to Shifts enabled, schedule meals and breaks directly when creating or editing an employee's shift.
For step-by-step instructions, see HS Scheduling: Creating and Editing Shifts.
Scheduling Meals and Breaks Using the Roster Report
If Apply Meals/Breaks to Shifts is disabled:
- From the Scheduling tab, select Report.
- Locate the employee's shift.
- Enter the meal or break time in the available field.
- Changes are saved automatically.
Note: Meal and break times entered in the Roster Report are stored as a note for managers. They do not create a scheduled meal or break on the employee's shift.

Administrator Configuration
Whether meals and breaks are scheduled in the shift editor or through the Roster Report is controlled by the Apply Meals/Breaks to Shifts option when configuring a Meal & Break rule set in Above Store Console.
