Apply Without an Account
- Enabled by Default? - Yes
- Set up by customer Admin? - No
- Enable via Support ticket? - No
- Affects configuration or data? - No
What's Changing?
Applicants will no longer be required to create an ATS account in order to submit an application through an employer's ATS.
Reason for the Change
To make the application process more user-friendly. Reduces the risk of confusion caused for applicants when needing to have an account for a job board (Indeed, Totaljobs, etc) and for a specific employer's ATS. This change will mean that applications will be submitted immediately after they are saved, and applicants will now have the choice to create a password-protected account should they wish.
Customers Affected
All ATS customers.
Release Notes/Steps
- A user submits an application through an employer's ATS Candidate Portal
- Upon submission, they are taken directly to a confirmation page (see Fig.1) and they also receive an email containing a link that will allow them to check on their application at a later date - though the link will expire after 7 days
- The user has the option to select Create my account
- If they do - they will be able to log back in at any time to check their application and any additional applications made to that employer will be submitted immediately
- If they do not - they can continue browsing and use the link from the email to check in on their application (over the next 7 days). Users will always be given the option to create an account when using the email link
Regardless of whether they create an account or not, their application will be valid and all aspects of the recruitment process will proceed as normal.
Fig 1. Application Successful confirmation - create account option
If a user remains in the same browser session and applies for more vacancies, each application will behave the same way as the first - a link within each confirmation email will give them the option to add a password and create an account.
For those users who apply for a second vacancy from a different browser session, validation checks during the application submission will identify that they have already applied for a vacancy previously and the post-submission behaviour will be slightly different. Following the submission, rather than asking the applicant to set a password against the account, the applicant will see a simple page confirming the application is successful.

Existing Account Holders
If an applicant already has an existing account with a password assigned, their application will be submitted immediately, and they will be asked to log into their account in order to view and manage their applications
