Overview
A line check is a targeted stock count of a specific product list, completed on demand rather than as part of a regular stock count cycle. It focuses on items identified as high-risk for stock variance, allowing teams to verify and correct on-hand quantities quickly.
Line Checks created in Inventory are synchronised with and displayed in the Counting App, where counts can be completed and submitted directly from the app. One Line Check per location is currently supported.
Creating a Line Check
Line Checks are created manually in Inventory and display a Manual badge in the app. When Predictive Inventory is enabled for an organisation, Line Checks are generated automatically by AI.
For steps on creating a Line Check in Inventory, see Inventory Restaurants: Setting Up a Line Check.
Finding a Line Check in the Counting App
In the Counting App, Line Checks display on a new Line Checks tab, shown next to the Stock Count tab.
- Select the Line Checks tab to view any Line Checks sent to the app for that location
- Select the Stock Count tab, then the required stock count area, to access existing stock count areas as before
The Line Checks tab is always displayed, even if no Line Checks are being sent to the Counting App from Inventory. If no Line Checks are available for a location, the Stock Count tab displays by default.
Counting and Submitting a Line Check
- Select the Line Check card to open the product list
The Line Check card shows an In Progress indicator and a count of products entered so far. Manually created Line Checks display the Manual badge.
- Search or filter products by area or count status
- Enter quantities as needed
Items can be searched by text or barcode.
Quantities are saved automatically to the device as each entry is made, so data is not lost if the app is closed or interrupted mid-count.
- Select Submit Line Check at the bottom of the product list when the count is ready
On submission, count data is transmitted to Inventory, where it can be viewed in line check reports. Once submitted, the Line Check card's status changes from In Progress to Open.
For steps on reviewing submitted count data, see Inventory Restaurants: Reviewing Line Check Results.
Updating Line Check Content from Inventory
To preserve local product counts in the Counting App, updates made in Inventory to an In Progress Line Check- specifically adding or removing products, are blocked until the Line Check is submitted.
Once a Line Check is no longer In Progress (either by being submitted, or by returning all quantities to blank), any updates made to its content in Inventory sync automatically to the Counting App the next time the app is opened and a location is selected.
Line check quantities added in Inventory are not synced to the Counting App.
In Inventory, a global setting called "Hide Products Not In Use" may hide some products from the Counting App's Line Check, even if they are selected in the Line Check list created in Inventory.
