Introduction
Rates and Freight functionality provides more flexibility to Inventory customers who operate in regions where the taxes, rates, and delivery charges applied vary on a regional basis.
Vendor invoices may show charges for taxes, freight, landing costs, shipping and handling, and many other types of charges, including negative charges (e.g. a discount). There may also be a need for the recipient to add a charge (e.g. to correct a rounding error). These charges may apply at the line level (e.g. sales tax applies only to the non-food items) or to a whole delivery (e.g. a delivery charge).
A common scenario from the US might be: distributing a freight charge proportionately across all lines before applying sales tax to certain lines, so that the freight charge on those lines is also subject to tax, and then automatically allocating the correct proportion of cost to each line.
