HotSchedules allows you to save time when writing your schedules by creating templates. Click HERE to learn how to create and apply templates from the Scheduling tab. This article will cover how to apply your templates to more than one schedule at a time and how you can use the information in your Labor Volume comparison.
To apply more than one template at a time, navigate to your Scheduling page in HotSchedules, click MENU, TEMPLATES, and then FORECAST TEMPLATES.
NOTE: Depending on how your site is configured, you may see a TEMPLATE GROUPS option instead.

The FORECAST TEMPLATES tab of the Templates modal will display the following:
- A - A Date Picker to allow you to quickly change the week to apply your templates
- B - A list of previously-created groups
- C - An option to create a new template group
- D - An option to apply a single template so that its contents appear in the Labor Volume chart.
Each listed group can be expanded to display the schedules it will apply a template to along with which specific template will be used for each.
To apply a group of templates, simply select the group you wish to apply, and select APPLY at the bottom of the modal. If you wish to create a new group of templates, select CREATE A NEW TEMPLATE GROUP.
From there, name your new group, and select a template for each of the schedules you want to be affected by using this template group, and select SAVE.
If you only want one of your templates to appear in your Labor Volume, expand the APPLY FORECASTED TEMPLATE FOR A SCHEDULE card of the modal, select the schedule you want to apply the template to, and the specific template.
Along with being able to apply more than one template at a time, another benefit of using the Forecast Template is that you can compare your templates with what you've actually scheduled by using the LABOR VOLUME metric in you Scheduler.
The above image is based on a template that calls for 42 shifts for the week (or 6 shifts each day) which are represented by the light blue bars. You can see that I've only scheduled 3 shifts on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday which has left me with a total of 9 House Shifts left to be scheduled.
It should be noted that the Labor Volume will also display forecasted sales if a forecast was generated for the week you're working on.
