Overview
Pay Exception Rules allow Admin users to configure additional pay requirements in the Above Store Console (ASC) based on defined scheduling or labor conditions, such as schedule changes, insufficient rest between shifts, or unmet minimum shift requirements.
A Rule Set is a collection of Pay Exception rules grouped together and applied to one or more stores. Each rule set can include multiple Pay Exception rule types, such as Predictability Pay, Right to Rest, or Split Shift. See Pay Exception Rule Types below for configuration guidance, compliance considerations, and jurisdictional coverage for each rule type.
Create and Edit Pay Exception Rule Sets
Log into the ASC to manage Pay Exceptions:
- Navigate to the Time & Attendance tab and select Pay Exceptions
- Select Create New Rule
- Enter a name for the Rule Set (e.g., Chicago Fair Workweek)
- Enable and configure the applicable Pay Exception rules, then select Save
Note: Each rule type can be enabled or disabled using the checkbox next to the rule name. Settings can be configured while the rule is disabled, but the rule will not apply to assigned stores until it is enabled and the rule set is saved.
Assign Pay Exception Rule Sets
Once a rule set has been created, it must be assigned to the applicable stores. Assigning a rule set applies its enabled Pay Exception rules to the selected store locations.
Note: A store location can only be assigned to one rule set at a time. If a location is already assigned to another rule set, assigning it to a new rule set will replace the previous assignment.
From the Pay Exceptions page, each rule set card displays:
- Rule set name
- Number of stores assigned
- Pay Exception rules enabled within the rule set
- Timestamp and author of the last edits
Select Assign from the right menu.
Select the store locations and then Assign Rule Set.
