Overview
In addition to being able to block specific days from employee requests, managers that have the correct permissions are also able to edit the cut-off limit rule for when their employees can submit new requests/time off. This restricts how far in advance a request must be submitted.
If you are needing more information on blocking days from the request calendar, view HS Time Off and Requests: Block Time Off Dates for more information.
This setting will affect all users making requests on the site. There is no way to set up different cut-off limit rules for different users.
Edit the Cut Off Limit Rule
- Log into HotSchedules and select Manage Time Off from the Home option in the main menu
Fig.1 - Navigation
- On this page, select the Cut Off Limit Rule option
Fig.2 - Cut Off Limit Rule
This will open the Cut Off Limits window and reveal three different setting options:
- 1) Day of week before next schedule: Choose this option if you would like employees to be able to submit a request for next week up until a particular day this week
- After choosing this option, you also need to select a day from the Day of Week (Option 1 only) menu
For example: If you select Tuesday with this option, employees will be able to submit requests for next week up until the cut off time on Tuesday of this week.
- 2) Fixed number of days before schedule: Choose this option if you would like to require that requests be submitted a certain number of days ahead of the week of the request
- After choosing this option, you also need to select an option from the Days (Option 2 and 3 only) menu
For example: If your workweek runs Monday - Sunday and you select this option and 1 Week, employees will be able to request days off for next week's schedule up until the cut off time on Monday of the current week
- 3) Fixed number of days (not aligned to work week): Choose this option if you would like to require that requests be submitted a certain number of days ahead of the day of the request. It is not aligned with the workweek, so this setting manages the cut-off limit on a day by day basis
- After choosing this option, you also need to select an option from the Days (Option 2 and 3 only) menu
For example: If today is the 3rd and you have this setting configured for 9 days, then today is the last day that users can make a request for the 12th
Regardless of which option you select, you should also set the Cut Off Time, which is the time of day that the rule goes into effect.
- Once you have made your selections, you can apply the new cut off-limits by selecting Save

This was not helpful at all because I thought I was already in hot schedule trying to request days off. There's way too many things on here that I don't benefit from and don't know why it's on here in the first place when I'm just an employee.
