Multiple Session Conflict Resolution
Multiple Session Conflict Resolution is now available. When a login is attempted, the system automatically checks for an existing active session and handles the conflict intelligently, removing the need for users to close their entire browser to resolve session issues
For more on our current priorities and initiatives, take a look at our 'What We’re Working On' article.
When a user navigates to the login page, a session check runs automatically in the background.
Important: This check runs automatically in the background. Where no conflicting session exists, it typically resolves in under a second. Where an active session is genuinely detected, the check may take up to one minute to complete (Fig.1).
Based on the outcome of that check, one of two things will happen:
- Active session detected: If another tab with a live WFM session is found and that tab is still genuinely open, the user will be shown a notification confirming a session is already in use (Fig.2). They will be prompted to return to that tab to continue working, or to close it properly before proceeding
- Stale session detected: If no truly active session is found (for example, a tab was closed without logging out), the lingering session will be ended automatically, and the user will be returned to the login page to continue as normal
Existing security and timeout rules remain in effect. Logging out properly will not be affected by this change. If a session expires via the existing timeout countdown on an open tab, the user will be returned to the login page as expected.
If a user opens a new tab to log in while another session tab is still open, the system may still consider that original tab active. In this case, the session check will handle the conflict on the next login attempt.
