Overview
This article provides guidance on using three different types of time and attendance scanning devices, specifically for clocking in and out and registering break times.
Depending on the device being used, please jump to:
- Synergy A Biometric Fingerprint Reader
- SY910 Facial Recognition Device
- SY910 Facial Recognition Device with Contactless Buttons
- Synergy 5
- Synergy 10
- SY785 Biometric Fingerprint Reader (no longer in production)
Synergy A Biometric Fingerprint Reader
The 'Synergy Fingerprint' data capture device in your organisation is equipped with state of the art biometric technology for clocking in, recording breaks and clocking out. The biometric technology consists of a fingerprint sensor that is designed to read and recognise the fingerprint of each individual, in the form of a fingerprint template.
Registering an Event
- To register an event simply press the relevant event key on the Synergy Fingerprint device
- This can be used to record IN, OUT or a dedicated function (such as a break) that your employer may have programmed into one of the function keys, below the screen
Authenticate your Event
Once you have selected the appropriate event that you wish to register you will need to authenticate this with either your fingerprint or employee card/fob.
The fingerprint sensor at this point will light red, prompting you to:
- Place your pre-enrolled finger on the fingerprint reader.
- Alternatively, use the card reader to the left of the sensor and tap your employee card or fob
- If the employee has PIN by-pass enabled at this point they can enter their PIN on the keypad and press ENTER.
Confirmation of Successful Event Registration
Once you have selected the appropriate event and have authenticated this with either your fingerprint, card/fob or PIN, the Synergy Fingerprint device will confirm the successful registration by showing the event as 'registered', as well as the date and time.
This completes the registration of the particular attendance event.
SY910 Facial Recognition Device
The 'Synergy Face' data capture device is equipped with state of the art biometric technology for clocking in, recording breaks and clocking out. The facial recognition sensor is designed to read and recognise the face of each individual, using a pre-enrolled face template.
Registering an event via Facial Scanning or Card/Fob
To authenticate an employee, Synergy Face will initially scan their face so that it can match the profile against the template held on the database.
- To scan, simply stand in front of the device, keeping your head within the centre of the screen
- If using an employee card or fob, simply hold it close to the card reader to the right of the device
- If the employee has PIN by-pass enabled at this point they can enter their PIN on the keypad and press ENTER
Select the Event you wish to Register
Once you have been successfully authenticated, a screen will appear giving you the choice of different events (such as IN, OUT, Breaks) registered by your employer.
- Choose the relevant event and press the relevant number on the touchpad to the left of the Synergy Face device
Confirmation of Successful Event Registration
After selecting the appropriate event that you wish to register, the Synergy Face device will confirm the successful registration by showing the event registered, employee name, and the date & time.
This completes the registration of the particular attendance event.
SY910 Facial Recognition Devices with Contactless Buttons
The Synergy Face device can also feature contactless buttons for touch-free event registration.
Only IN/OUT events can be registered using contactless buttons. Other events, such as breaks, require the configuration of a standard function key on the device.
Authenticate your Event Registration via Facial Scanning or Card/Fob
To authenticate an employee, Synergy Face will initially scan their face so that it can match the profile against the template held on the database.
- To scan, simply stand in front of the device, keeping your head within the centre of the screen
- If using an employee card or fob, simply hold it close to the card reader to the right of the device
Select the Event you wish to Register
Once you have been successfully authenticated, a screen will appear giving you the choice of registering either an IN or OUT event.
- To register your event, simply wave your hand at the relevant button
This will then be registered onto the device as shown on the right.
Confirmation of Successful event registration
After selecting the appropriate event that you wish to register, the Synergy Face device will confirm the successful registration by showing the event registered, employee name, and the date & time.
This completes the registration of the particular attendance event.
