Summary
There may be occasions where the flow of Time and Attendance data from a specific device needs to be redirected to a different or new location(s). These redirections are known as Repoints, and there are four different ways that data can be Repointed.
1 - Location Repoint
By far the most common form of repoint - a Location Repoint - involves moving the flow of data from one location within a portal to another location within the same portal. This can also be used if there is a need for a device that has historically fed only one location to start feeding multiple locations.
This type of repoint can only move data between locations within the same portal.
Requesting a Location Repoint can be done by Submitting a Request to the Fourth Support Team.
-
Request a Location Repoint and provide the following details:
- The full name and address of the location that the device is currently posting data to
- The full name and address of the location that the device should be repointed to post data to
- The Accounting System Code of the location that the device is currently posting data to
- The Accounting System Code of the location that the device should be repointed to post data to
- The date that the repoint should take place
2 - Module Repoint
A Module Repoint takes the flow of data and moves it in its entirety from one module to another within the same portal. This is usually required when upgrading from Rotas to Scheduling. Your Solution Consultant will be able to guide you through the process.
3 - Portal Repoint
There may be occasions when the flow of data from a device, or multiple devices, needs to be redirected to a new portal - for example where the location(s) is now under new ownership and the new owners wish to use the onsite devices. Your Fourth customer contact (Solution Consultant or Customer Care), will guide you through this process.
4 - Middleware Repoint
Fourth's Synergy devices connect via 'Synergy Connect' middleware, and each instance of that middleware connects to a single portal. On rare occasions, the entire dataset from one instance of middleware may need to be directed to a new portal altogether. This can be required if a customer returns to Fourth and wishes to reuse their existing devices but on a new portal. Your Solution Consultant will guide you through this process.
