It is your responsibility to ensure that these requirements and prerequisites are met before booking your installation. Failed installations will incur extra call-out fees.
Operational Requirements
The Fourth Biometric clock requires uninterrupted internet access in order to send data to the Fourth Hospitality T&A Server. The clock acts as a network client with a static IP Address or DHCP on the local network. In addition the devices only support numeric employee IDs. Please ensure you can meet these requirements, along with the those documented in the rest of this article before proceeding.
Installation Prerequisites
Firewall Requirements
Synergy/A, SY910 Facial and Synergy 5 and 10 devices connect to your Fourth solution via a Google Webservice, this means that they will be using port 443 to connect, you will need to make sure that this port is opened and you can check by connecting a laptop to the network point and attempting to access any Google Webservice (e.g. YouTube) - If you need to add the specific URL of the web service to your Firewall please add each of the following:
Synergy A Web Services
https://synergyfourthnew.synel-saas.com
https://synergyfourth2.synel-saas.com
https://synergyfourth3.synel-saas.com
https://synergyfourth4.synel-saas.com
SY910 Web Services
https://synergyfacefourth.synel-saas.com
https://synergyfacefourth2.synel-saas.com
https://synergyfacefourth3.synel-saas.com
https://synergyfacefourth4.synel-saas.com
Synergy 5 and 10 Web Services
These webservices are specific to each customer and will be communicated along with installation dates.
All devices will require IP provision. This can be done in one of two ways:
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) which is the preferred method of connection.
or - Manually (by specifying a Static IP, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask and DNS)
Manual IP configuration must be completed on the device firmware prior to shipping and cannot be adjusted on the device during installation so please ensure you have the correct details at the point of ordering - If you do not provide IP configuration your device will be configured to DHCP.
Power and Network Requirements
SY 910 Facial Devices require separate network and power connections and the following outlets must be available within 1 metre of the installation point:
- For network, an RJ45 live network (this must be patched and tested prior to installation)
- For power 1x UK mains power socket
If separate outputs are not available please let us know when ordering (using the Additional Comments field on the order form) and we can provide a splitting kit at an additional cost. If you would prefer to provide this yourself please ensure to provide the following components:
- POE+ Injector
- POE Splitter
- Enclosure box, if required.
Synergy A devices require power and network using a Power Over Ethernet (PoE) connection which must be available within 1 metre of the installation point.
This switch will need to be managed switch that is capable of stepping down to 100 mbps at half duplex
If PoE is not available our engineers will be able to combine the power from a mains supply and network from an RJ45 outlet using a splitter but this would be chargeable
Synergy 5 Fingerprint and Synergy 10 Face devices can both be powered by PoE++ (this is not the same as standard PoE - an article explaining the difference can be found here), or by separate power from a standard 3 pin socket and network from a standard RJ45 switch or Wi-Fi if no network cable is available.
If the switch the device is to be connected to is only standard PoE, or PoE+, but not PoE++, we can, at an additional cost, supply a PoE++ injector to ensure the device has enough power to operate. It is critical to inform us at the point of order so that we can ensure the engineer has the injector available at the point of installation rather than having to make a second, chargeable, visit to complete the install.
Installations
Where possible we will try to arrange installations according to the dates requested in the order. Please make sure that all the requirements listed above are already in place at the point of order.
Please Note: If your installation can't be completed because one or more of the above requirements haven't been met you may be liable for a second call out charge.
Installation may include some cable trunking. This will be done as neatly as possible.
Operational Reqequirements of SY785 Devices
The legacy SY785 Devices are no longer available to order but where one is already installed the device requirements are below:
1 Clean Spur, 240v AC, 5A, Fused, Unswitched, Flex Output.
1 RJ45 Socket for internet connectivity. This needs to be patched and tested on network.
Fixed Local IP Address (not within DHCP pool) allocated exclusively to the Biometric Clock, e.g. 10.0.2.50
Gateway address of the local network. This is commonly the Internal IP Address of the router, e.g. 10.0.2.1
Subnet mask of the Local Network, e.g. 255.255.255.000
Firewall configured to allow outbound traffic on TCP Port 3734
