What's Changing?
Multiple 'parent' ingredients can be edited 'in line' in a simple workflow.

User Group Permission
To enable the bulk edit ingredients functionality:
- Go to the admin tab and select User Groups from the drop-down
- Select the required User Group from the list on the left side
- Select Edit and go to the Permissions tab
- Under 'Admin Permissions' tick the box against Allow 'Multi Edit Ingredients tool and then Save

Bulk Edit Ingredients
With the User Group permission enabled:
- Go to the admin tab and select Tools from the drop-down
- Then select Bulk edit ingredients

Step 1: Search
- Use the Search text field to find the required ingredients
The search will return matching results from the ingredient name and ingredient product key.
Please note: The search will return parent ingredients only.

Step 2: Select from the search results
- Use the tick boxes on the right
- Select all by ticking the top box

Step 3: In-line editing of a limited range of fields
Select any of the following fields to edit:
- Ingredient Name (cannot be blank)
- Product Name
- Short Name (maximum field length defined for each organisation in global database settings)
- Label Description
- Internal Code
- Supplier Order UOM
- Date Avail. to Order

Step 4: Add flags, add categories
- Select an ingredient flag and expiry date as required
- Use the Category type drop-down and select required categories from the list - SMART categories are indicated in the drop-down
If the global database setting Allow single cat export type for ing is enabled (by request - please contact Fourth), it will not be possible to link more than one SMART category to an ingredient.

When a SMART category is selected and the ingredient(s) already have a SMART category applied to one or more of them, an error message will be displayed at the top of the page: It's not possible to apply more than one SMART category.

Step 5: Confirmation of changes
- To complete the editing process, select Confirm
- To return to Step 4, select Back

Step 6: Finish
- Review the onscreen summary and select Finish

Post-Edit Processing
After editing, all impacted records will be marked for export to Inventory as per Bulk Edit Recipes.
Changes to Label Description and Ingredient Name will trigger Recipe Ingredient List recalculations.
New Terms/Acronyms
Not a new term but 'parent ingredients' hold nutrition and intolerance information for all alternate ingredients that are linked to the parent ingredient. 'Alternate ingredients' are typically different purchasing sizes of the parent ingredient.
