What’s Changing?
Removal of the validation which restricts the end date of a furlough period up to 31st October 2020.
Release date: 12th November 2020
Reason for Change
Following the extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), it has been necessary to remove the validation so that users can extend furlough periods to a date after 31st October 2020.
Customers Affected
All HR & Payroll users.
Release Notes
Within an employee’s Furlough Status page, the validation which restricts users from entering a date after 31st October has been removed.
- To view the employee’s Furlough Status page, go to HR > Employees > Employee List > select Employee
- Select Furlough Status
The information as shown in Fig.1 will display.

Due to the way in which the Furlough Claim Calculation works, Fourth is unable to remove the end date completely, so, by extending it until December 2021, any further announcements to extend the scheme will not require further work to remove the restriction.
This change means that there are no current restrictions within HR & Payroll which will stop users from creating furlough periods starting and ending on any date up to 31st December 2021.
