Overview
There are five tabs within the main Engage dashboard, each containing different types of reporting data.
The tabs are listed below and explained further here in this article. There is also a list of User Events at the end.
- Engaged - counts the proportion of employees who are interacting with the Engage app
- Posting - similar to 'Engaged' data, focused solely on interactions with posts
- Messaging - shows user activity in the Messaging functionality (if used)
- Activity Details - reporting on all other activities in Engage (announcements, notifications, etc)
- Posts - shows user activity occurring against posts in the Engage feed
The data is based on the Financial Calendar (relevant to each business) and shows as:
- 52 or 53 weeks in each year
- 12 or 13 periods in each year, made up of 4 or 5 weeks in each period
All data in Fourth Analytics comes from Fourth's core solutions. The data feeds in from the Engage app overnight, every night.
'Engaged' - Engagement Data
The key metric used across the Engage dashboard is ‘Engaged Employees’. This metric counts the proportion of employees who are Engaged, i.e. interacting with the Engage app.
'Engagement’ activities include, but are not limited to:
- Posting
- Liking/commenting
- Viewing attachments
- Viewing custom menus/submenus
- Sending direct messages (if using)
- Viewing notifications
By default, employees are considered 'Engaged' if they perform any activity other than logging in (aka a 'View Feed page' event).
The Engaged tab contains 2 different views of the data:
- Total values for the date range selected
- Average values per day
Also on this tab are views of the Engagement data by Location, Department, Job Title, and Weekly Trend. These reports display Engagement %, as well as no. of User Events, and no. of User Events per employee.
Post Data
The Posting tab contains the same reporting as the ‘Engaged’ tab but uses an engagement metric which purely focuses on interactions with posts.
‘Posting’ activities include:
- Submitting posts
- Liking posts
- Opening posts
- Commenting on posts
- Viewing links/attachments/videos within posts
The Posts tab contains full details of every post submitted to Engage and shows the top-performing posts in each Group by number of likes or comments.
Messaging Data
This tab will only populate with data if you are using the Messaging functionality within the Engage solution.
The Messaging tab contains reporting on the Engage Messaging functionality. This once again mirrors the reporting on the ‘Engaged’ and ‘Posting’ tabs.
Messaging activities include:
- Sending messages
- Creating/updating/leaving channels
- Creating/voting in/closing polls
- Viewing the Fourth Messaging page
- Banning users
Activity Details Data
The Activity Details tab contains reporting on all other activities within Engage, particularly on Announcements, Notifications, and Custom Menu Items. Some use cases are listed below:
- When posting a new Announcement, you can see how much traffic that Announcement gets over time, and also how many times the ‘new Announcement’ notification is selected. You can also view how many times the links/attachments/videos within each Announcement are interacted with
- You can track which menu items and subitems are being accessed more than others, as well as materials within those items. For example, you can see how many people are navigating to your Policies page and then exactly which policy documentation is being viewed
User Events
Below is a list of generic User Events. If there are bespoke elements to your Engage solution, some events may not be listed here.
The following are direct actions taken by the user:
- Comment on post
- Like post
- Open notification
- Open post – this event also triggers the ‘View Feed Post page’ event. This is excluded from the dashboards by default, so as not to double-count
- Send direct message
- Submit post
The following are actions where the user has navigated to different areas of Engage:
-
View Group Feed page
- View Group Details page
- View Group Members List page
- View Group Notifications page
- View Groups – browse All Groups page
- View Groups – Company Groups page
- View Groups – My Groups page
-
View custom menu item
- View Content page
- View Content Details page
-
View custom subitem
- View subitem attachment
- View subitem link
-
View Messages page
- View Message Details page
- View Employee Directory – Locations page
- View Employee Directory – People page
- View Notifications page
- View other user’s profile page
- View Profile page
- View Feed page – as noted previously, this event is excluded from engagement metrics, since it is the default for all users logging into Engage
The following events are triggered by selecting Announcements:
- View announcement details – this event also triggers the ‘View Announcement page’ event. This is excluded from the dashboards by default, so as not to double-count
- View announcement link
- View announcement video
The following events are triggered by selecting Feed Posts:
- View feed attachment
- View feed link
- View feed video
-
Open post – this event also triggers the ‘View Feed Post page’ event. This is excluded from the dashboards by default, so as not to double-count
These 'Feed Posts' events can be triggered without technically ‘opening’ the post. Therefore ‘Open Post’ is not a true reflection of how many times the post has been interacted with
