Overview
This article shows the different statuses that E-Sign documents go through, from their creation to completion, and what actions (such as tracking, resending, etc) are possible along the way.
Document Statuses
- Go to HR > Administration > Document Management > E-Sign Documents

The 'Current Documents' view will be displayed, including the 'Document Status' column. Buttons in the 'Document' column can be used for taking various actions.

Statuses
Document Status | Notes | Possible Action |
Created | Submission being prepared. Nothing yet sent to the recipient | Edit Document - make adjustments to the template mappings |
Pending | The request to send the document(s)/email to the recipient is being processed by DocuSign | View - option to view the document(s) that will be sent. Also possible to Delete (void) or Resend the document(s) |
Envelope Sent | DocuSign has emailed the document(s) to the employee, but they haven't opened it yet | View - option to view the document(s) that have been sent. Also possible to Delete (void) or Resend the document(s) |
Envelope Delivered | The employee has read the email and opened up the document, but that document has not yet been signed/completed | View - option to view the document(s) that have been sent. Also possible to Delete (void) or Resend the document(s) |
Envelope Signed/Complete | The employee has viewed the document and signed it, thus completing the process |
No action can be done from this point, such as adjusting the mappings and resending or voiding the template The document(s) can still be viewed |
Resent |
The document(s) have been resent (proceeded by 'Pending' and 'Sent'). Once viewed again by the employee, the status will change to 'Envelope Delivered' |
View - option to view the document(s) that have been sent. Also possible to Delete (void) or Resend the document(s) |
Envelope Declined | The employee has received and opened the document, and then selected the 'decline to sign' option in DocuSign (ADD LINK TO TRACKING DOCUMENTS GUIDE). |
No action can be done from this point, such as adjusting the mappings and resending or voiding the template The document(s) can still be viewed |
Envelope Voided | The document has been voided/deleted. ADD LINK TO VOIDING GUIDE |
No action can be done from this point, such as adjusting the mappings and resending or voiding the template The document(s) can still be viewed |
Envelope Purge | The document(s) has been purged, or removed by DocuSign. This happens automatically for any document that is 90 days old and never progressed from the 'Created' or 'Pending' status |
