Explanation
In 2017, absence functionality was improved to enable Fourth customers to have more control over their data. The change was necessary to ensure all customers are compliant with legislation and that absence payments are accurate.
All Fourth customers were moved over to version 2 by the end of 2017 and training was provided as part of the project.
Features
Waiting Days
When entering an absence, the system will calculate waiting days once the employee's working pattern for that week has been indicated using the tick boxes.

Doctor's Certificate and Return to Work Completed
Absences can be entered by anyone. However, the permission to submit the absence to payroll can be restricted. This enables a business to check that waiting days have been correctly selected and a valid doctor's certificate has been seen. This reduces the risk of under or over-payments.
Doctors' Certificates should not be sent to the bureau but to the employees' own Head Office.
The Return to Work Completed tickbox enables a business to record any return to work documentation or interviews as appropriate.

CSP
Company sick pay can be configured using contracts to set the number of days that CSP an employee is entitled to. This will then calculate and display a cost on the employees’ records.
Linking Absence
Individual absences of 4 days or more, entered into the system within an 8-week period, will automatically be linked and displayed in the employee's absence screen. No waiting days are applied to linked absences
