What's Changing?
The format of the Tip Payments Report (or 'Tip Report), automatically sent at the end of each pay period, has been updated. Two columns have been removed and the logic behind three others has been modified to provide more accurate and comprehensive tip information.
Reason for the Change
These changes allow for more accurate tracking and reconciliation of tip transactions, especially in cases where adjustments are made after initial payouts.
Customers Affected
All customers using the Tip Pay Out feature will be affected by this change.
Release Note Info/Steps
These 2 columns contain unnecessary information and will be removed:
- Tips Payable
- Tips Employer Fees
These 3 columns have been updated as follows:
- Tips Earned: Now represents all tips imported into the system for the pay period
- Tips Paid: Shows all tips paid out to the employee during the pay period
- Balance: Calculates the difference between 'Tips Earned' and 'Tips Paid'. Importantly, the balance can now show a negative value, indicating that there were edits to the original imported tips after a payout was made to the employee
To use the report:
- The report is automatically generated and emailed (the recipient address will have been configured during the implementation phase) at the end of each pay period
- Review the Tips Earned column to see all tips imported for the period
- Check the Tips Paid column to confirm all paid tips
- Examine the Balance column to understand any discrepancies, keeping in mind that negative values are possible
If you see a negative balance, investigate any post-payout edits of tips that may have occurred.
