Overview
In the UK, when the clocks change between Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and British Summer Time (BST) in March and October, the times on Synel T&A devices change automatically. This can result in employee clock-out times needing to be manually adjusted in Fourth's Scheduling modules when confirming hours and completing the day.
Dates and Times of Clock Changes - UK
In March the clocks go forward one hour at 1am on the last Sunday of the month. Any employees who clock out after this time will need an hour deducted from their clock-out time.
In October the clocks go back one hour at 2am on the last Sunday of the month. Any employees who clock out after this will need an hour added to their clock-out time.
During the Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes, shifts cannot be scheduled between 01:00 and 02:00 in March (as this hour does not exist) or duplicated between 01:00 and 02:00 in October (as the hour repeats). The system will automatically adjust any shifts that fall within these affected times. To prevent scheduling issues, managers should split the shift before and after the time change or insert an extra break around this period.
Warning on the Schedule Page
To help managers remember to factor in clock changes, one week before, during the week, and one week after the time change, a warning message will be displayed on top of the Schedule page (Fig.1).
