Overview
The Tronc and Tronc2 modules distribute tronc according to the number of hours an employee works within the tronc period and their tronc rate.
The distribution calculation is the same within both modules and is outlined below.
Calculation
The Tronc distribution calculation has three steps:
- Calculate total tronc rate - multiply the tronc points by the number of hours worked for each employee
- Calculate the value per tronc point - the total amount to be paid out for the period divided by the total tronc rate (from step 1)
- Calculate tronc paid out - the total tronc rate multiplied by the value per tronc point
Example
The below example gives a breakdown of the distribution calculation.
Table 1. Employee hours worked and tronc rate
Step 1
Tronc points x hours worked = total tronc rates per employee
Table 2. Total tronc rate per employee
Step 2
The total fund amount for the period is £100.00.
Total amount to be paid out ÷ total tronc rate for all employees = value per tronc point
£100 ÷ 207 = £0.4830917
Step 3
Total tronc rate per employee x value per tronc point
Table 3. Total Tronc Rate * Value per tronc point
