If your company utilizes the Request feature on HotSchedules, this will allow you to submit request to have a day off or to work. However, certain restrictions can be placed on what day(s) employees can request off.
If you have attempted to submit a request that the system cannot accept, you will be prompted with an error.
Here are 2 common reasons that a request cannot be submitted:
Requested Day is Blocked
Managers have the ability to block certain days from requests. For example, they may not want everyone to be able to request a holiday weekend off if they will be busy. If you see that a date you need to have off is blocked, your best option is to talk to your manager (through a message on HotSchedules or in person).
You can view any days that are blocked by selecting the Request sublink on the Home tab. These blocked dates will be listed under View Blocked Days and Shifts.
If you do attempt to request one of these off, you will receive an error telling you that it is [Blocked].
It is Past the Cut-Off Date for the Requested Day
Companies who use HotSchedules have a setting that controls how far ahead of time requests must be put in. This can vary greatly depending on when managers write their schedules and how far ahead they need to be aware of special requests.
When you are on the Request page, you will see the Earliest Available Date that you can make a request for.
If you do attempt to request an earlier date, you will receive an error telling you that the [Request is before the cutoff date].
