Hi

 

We have an employee struggeling to find their NI number, can I use the NVR within the HMRC Data Exchange ? Is there a how to document?

  Hi Sharon, 

  Thank you for your question. 

  If the employee is a new starter then you will need to leave the NI Number field blank initially. HMRC will review the employee details on the FPS file and then may send a correction via the NVR functionality. 

  If the HMRC Data Exchange is switched on and linked to HMRC for P6 downloads, then it is likely that the NVR functionality is also switched on. Both the P6 download and the NVR download work in the same way. If you are unsure, please fill in the Submit a Request form so that we can check this for you. 

  Alternatively, the employee can call the HMRC employee helpline.
