One Time Funding of Hours for Training
Is there a way to fund fixed labor hours that show up in Ideal/Optimal hours for activities that have irregular patterns such as training or one time activities?
Example: A shop has new equipment being installed and requires additional labor to support the installation, this is not something that is funded through regular Labor Rules configuration but needs to be added to their allotment of hours.

Hi Kyle,
Currently there's not a way to do this within the labor rule configuration. The rules use service based drivers like Sales, Core Dozen Sold etc. allocate labor based on the forecast of those drivers. What you're asking for is a way to have "non service" based and then from there, more ad-hoc...in your example, new equipment being replaced, This probably doesn't happen all that often and therefore couldn't be part of the labor model (you would end up over spending on labor).
I like the concept though of having a non service task that allocates x hrs based on something local going on. Imagine it might look something like this:
- Allocate 5 hrs based on a pre-determined pick list (let's go with equipment replace where that's the "driver")
- At the site level, you would select this driver type and put the day /date it's occurring (let's say it's Tuesday, July 9th); I don't think we care about time of day here because it could be unreliable?
- The labor engine would see you have the site level "override" and for July 9 give 5 hours to the day
- Optimal from July 9 actuals (so what you would see on July 10) would account for the 5hrs so that combined with all other rules in the labor engine give you the "optimal labor demand"
- Since you don't have "Equipment Replacement" set up for any other date, when the labor generates for subsequent weeks, you would not get 5 additional hours
Concerns I could see being raised:
- Adding the non service task just to get the 5 additional hours. Would be up to operations to review police
- If labor has already been generated and schedule created (let's go with current week), how do apply a "last minute" equipment replacement so you get the 5hrs and your optimals account for
