The creation of a brand new permission and drop-down menu within the HR and Payroll module called ‘Re-hire employee’

Reason for the Change
Currently within the People system if a user has access to the ‘Create new employee’ permission they can also rehire employees because the ‘rehire employee’ link is embedded in the ‘Create New Employees’ page. These are two separate functions within the system and should therefore be independent from each other.

A new drop-down menu and accompanying permission called ‘Rehire employee’ are being created so that customers can choose to separate users who can rehire from users who can create employees.

The new menu option will be found in the HR Module and the Payroll module under the Employees drop-down.

Selecting the new menu option will then direct the user to the existing rehire employee’s page where they can rehire an employee as normal.

To access the new drop-down option the user will need the new permission called ‘Rehire employee in the corresponding module.

• Users with access to the new ‘Rehire Employee’ permission only
Will only be able to rehire employees using the new drop-down menu option. Will not be able to create new employees and will not see the Create New Employees option in the drop-down menu.
• Users with access to the ‘Create New Employee’ permission only*
Will only be able to create employees and will not have access to the new Rehire drop-down menu option and so therefore will not be able to rehire employees.
• Users with access to both the ‘Create New Employee’ and the new ‘Rehire Employee’ permissions
Will be able to see both the Create Employee and the rehire employee options in the dropdown and will be able to perform both functions. They will also see the existing rehire link in the employee creation page.
*Please note – Users currently in your portal who already have access to the existing ‘Create New Employee’ permission will be given access to the new Rehire permission by default. This is so that customers who do not wish to make use of this new functionality do not need to perform any additional admin.
