What's Changing and Why?
Currently, the synchronisation of data between Recipe and Menu Engineering (RME) and Inventory happens during an overnight process. Changes made to recipes and ingredients in RME during the day are updated in Inventory later that night.
To improve how data is synchronised between RME and Inventory, Fourth is changing to a new, near real-time synchronisation mechanism whereby changes to recipes and ingredients in RME will be effective in Inventory almost instantly.
This will ensure that the two systems are kept in sync and the latest versions of recipes and ingredients are immediately available in Inventory.
When will this Happen?
The synchronisation will be changed during June 2024.
What do I need to do?
- Inform your users of this upcoming change in system behaviour
- Review your recipe/ingredient change processes that currently work based on changes becoming visible in Inventory until the next day
- For example, the Cost Price is changed on an ingredient in the knowledge that this will not be updated in Inventory until the next day whereas now, such a change will be updated in Inventory in near real-time
- To schedule a Cost Price change for the following day/future, the 'Pending Cost Price' functionality can be used
It is worth noting that any new categories created can be used almost immediately on the same day instead of having to wait for the overnight synchronization.
