Do alerts and reminders get send for direct reports only or for all employees in a location

When a reminder is set up (for a job title or a specific user) will reminders only be sent for direct reports or for everyone in that location and/or on a lower hierarchy access than the person receiving them?

hope you are well and happy Friday!
Alerts and reminders are access driven - which means for any individual users or job tiles assigned the system looks at where they are within the access level hierarchy and their location / division access for the HR module. Users should receive notifications for employees they are above in the hierarchy as long as they have access to their location and division.
