What are Reserved Days in the global setting and how should they be used? Do they help with ensuring that all flexible workers take Christmas Day off as holiday?

Hi @Katie Rose

This is a great question.

Reserved days are to force employees to take holiday on specific days such as Christmas day.

This will apply to all employees in a location, not just flexible.

Also bear in mind that the employees will still need to book the day as holiday.

Hope this answers your question?

If they still need to book it as holiday, what does the reserved day actually do?

Hi @Katie Rose

effectivley if stops the employee from taking holiday that is reserved on any other day.

If the employees annual entitlement if 28 days and you reserve 25th Dec, they can choose when to take 27 of the days but must (and cannot) take the 1 day at any other time.

This stops people using the full allowance during the year and then getting an extra day because the business is closed.

Because it shows as a reserved day it is easy to see at the end of the year if entitlement for salaried staff remains because they didn’t book the reserved day off.

Hope this helps
