Linking absences

I have a query regarding linking absences. If an employee is off for 3 days and the manager enters this each day when they complete the rota, it shows as 3 separate lines of absences. When what we need to be able to do is allow the managers to link them so they don’t appear as 3 absences but rather as 1 continuous absence. I can do this as Admin but the managers aren’t able to amend the field? I’m not sure whether there is a better way of doing it or whether I am missing something?

Hey,

 

When creating an absence the best and simplest way to do this is within the HR Module. The Rota will only allow for daily absences to be created, and if a 3 day absence is required there is no way to achieve this using the Rota module.

 

Within the employee record, it is possible to create an absence where multiple dates are entered. This will allow 1 absence of 3 days to be created. This will then feed through and display on the Rota.

 

If a manager cannot manage absences within the HR module, this would simply be down to the access levels assigned to their role.

The ability to amend absences created in the Rota Module is permission based. Applying 'Edit absences in past' permission in HR will allow managers to amend absences created in the Rota module within an Employee's HR record. As this is normally an Admin setting and would not advise to give the permission to managers. The permission would allow managers to amend past absences.

 

Managers have the ability to create longer absences in an employee's HR record.

Hi Gary,

 

Is there any plan on changing this? I would like to have to limit the amount of admin managers have to do, therefore if they are entering in an absence in Rota why can't they amend and link in HR module - otherwise they will have to keep going back and fourth as you don't always know how long someone is going to be off for?

 

As an aside to this, as Admin I can go in and amend the absence end date - which I appreciate will likely be because of having Admin access but can't we apply the same access to managers on this one section?
