we have a scenario where our procurement function would like to restrict the number of orders a unit can place with a particular supplier each day. Basically the logic is 1 order per site per day with this particular supplier. Is there any system logic we can apply to Trade Simple to achieve this other than us just communicating via engage?

We have a setting that would allow you to enable one order per day against a specific supplier. Sounds like this is exactly what you are after.
