This is a really interesting question!

Line manager notifications can be set from inside the employees record.

You can set a 1st and 2nd line managers in this screen.

From what I understand from your post...

  • The employee reports to is correct
  • The line manager notification has been set up in the record and this is overriding the Reports to.

This does seem logical but I agree it is not practical.

I will need to test to confirm this is the case and I will post my finding on here.

Hi @Lavender Salisbury​ 

When setting up Line Manager Notifications the 'Reports to' will populate the 1st line manager.

If this is changed to someone else, it will override the 'Reports to' and holiday notifications will now go to the person entered in the Line Manage notification and NOT the 'Reports to' as the system assumes there is a reason for the change.

 

If the 'Reports to' is changed, either in the record or via the Batch update, this will also update the line manager notification and change back to the 'Reports to'.
