I have put an absence onto HR, for a salaried person who is being paid in full for this absence. It has dropped automatically into rota but is not being calculated into the total hours for that week, why does it not do this?

There is no concept of hours for absence.
Absences will automatically populate the rota however will not be included in the total worked hours for the week as they were not worked.
