Is there a way to flag out of stock items on a catalogue

Hi, we are wanting to show to our sites when items are currently out of stock. We want them to still see the item if searching for it, but to be told its out of stock and not let them add to basket in Ordering. Is this possible in anyway? My thinking is this could be a flag added to the catalogue load file?   We don't want to remove completely from the catalogue ​as we have found that if users cant see the item at all then they assume its disappeared due to an error with the catalogue, and not an out of stock, so they then escalate with Head Office which causes issues.   Any thoughts.   Thanks Simon

Thanks for your question regarding being able to show out of stock items on a catalogue. While we don’t have this particular functionality on our purchase to pay solution, I do have a couple of options that might work for you.

 

Option 1

Use our product not orderable flag in column G of the catalogue, it allows you to enter a ‘y’ next to the product to make it not orderable by the site. This functionality was designed to remove the product from the site’s view. The product is still in the catalogue and can be used for price matching on invoices coming in but to the site the product will have vanished.

 

Option 2

As you need the sites to have visibility of the out of stock products you could use 2 catalogues. There would be the standard catalogue which the sites orders from, and an ‘out of stock’ catalogue which the site has ‘view only’ permissions set in maintain suppliers (see below screenshot)

This would give the site visibility of the products, but the site would see a no entry sign so can’t order them. See below screenshot. While this not really ideal it might help.
