Can we edit absences on Fourth? For example if an absence is entered and then later we receive a certificate, can we add documents seen and ensure the sickness gets paid?

Hi Kate,
If the absence has not happened yet, it can be deleted. Typically it is not possible to edit them, unless you have the permission Edit absences in the past switched on the Template you are assigned to. There are additional implications to doing this, as some Absence Types drive Payroll deductions and payments.
The best practice would be to create absences on a daily basis or for a date range when you know it, eg- authorised absence, doctors cert (for the date range). If using Absences V2- this will link the absences if there are payments owed over an 8 week period as long as the correct Payroll Settings are on.
The Document seen box drives ALL absence payments so it is best practice to always select it as it will not impact deductions but will ensure payments are pushed through in Payroll as long as the Absence Type has been set up to do so.

Hi Cris,
Thank you for your reply. I have a few questions regarding this.
- I have noticed that if a manager does a day to day absence, sometimes they use different criteria and then the sickness does not link.
- Could the manager add the start absence date, tick the document seen and then later add the return to work date?
- Could it be that some managers currently just dont have access to tick the document seen button?
With kind regards
Keanu
Hi @Keanu Samuels ,
- If the absences are not linking, this is down to the Global Settings as long as you are on V2(which you are)- I would talk to your dedicated Payroll Specialist who can help with this, as you are Bureau customers
- The Return to work is designed to be entered retrospectively, so yes
- It is permission based so if the Template they are assigned to has it switched off, you are correct that they may not see it at all. This may be a business decision as it may be finance/payroll who complete this task
Best,
Cris
