In the example provided, if I were to enter 1 day sickness for Friday 24th and a further sickness absence from Tuesday 28th - Friday 31st to pay the Monday bank holiday as normal (whether entered as a holiday or not), the Friday 24th would not link to the remainder of the absence due to it not being of sufficient length to be classed as a PIW or consecutive to a PIW and this would be incorrect. I am, therefore, not sure how this can be manually managed in this way or if there is an alternative way in which this could be processed?

You cannot enter a holiday and an absence for the same day.
The system also does not know this is a bank holidays and should be considered as a holiday day.
This will need to be manually managed when a bank holiday occurs.
If an employee who normally does not need to book bank holidays off is sick,
2 absences will need to be entered, either side of the holiday. The two will link together as long as the global setting in payroll is enabled to link Periods of Incapacity to work. (PIW).
