As much as I appreciate innovation and forward thinking, I have to say the new shift approval update has taken an easily worked online tool and turned it into a dumpster fire of bureaucracy and frustration. Never before has the duration of my employees’ employment remotely mattered when I am deciding who to give a shift to, but that seems like a paltry trade since now I am unable to see if said employee is even working that day. I’m sure a restaurant based scheduling platform will not piss off their litany of hungover managers that are trying to piece a shift together under already stressful working conditions.
I love well designed software just as much as Elon Musk loves his electric unicorn, but this update is less desirable than sticking my hand in a fryer. At least I know what I’m in for with the fryer... I don’t know if this will reverse your designers decision to change the previous swiftly approving multiple shift changes at once for the speed-bump riddled, multi-stepped, now I have to put in a flippin’ reason even though it’s a simple choice of it’s a body in a spot where I need a body, man, less desirable choice, but hey, I could be wrong.
To summarize, I give the update a giant have you ever worked in a restaurant, did you use a panel from the DMV, this went through planning and meetings and Agile sprints, thumbs down.
XOXO and finger guns,
