Employee/line manager within Hierarchy

Hello, 

Is it possible for an employee to sit on the same level within the Hierarchy as their line Manager but still report to the line Manager for holiday approval etc? 

It's so the employee can do all the same things within the system as the line Manager without needing to report to someone else?
