So Adaco Fourth, for some reason beyond comprehension, no longer supports Industrial Scanners (you know, Laser scanners that can read a Bar code in almost any condition and have/are being universally used in warehouses) and now only supports, wait for it, Camera Phone as scanners (I am sure that has nothing to with the simple plug n play API from Phone pmakers, reducing Fourth development costs). We have been struggling with this. We have tried the latest iOS and Android, and the inventory now takes twice as long and requires several peripheral devices to improve the function.  I am reaching out to the community to see if anyone can recommend a model of phone that will do the best job.

Also, I would like to suggest that whoever approved this switch...reconsider

  Sorry to hear that you're not happy about Fourth's decision to move away from the obsolete technology, but the decision was made when Zebra our supplier stopped producing/supporting the devices as they were end of life.

  The decision to move onto mobile/cell compatible scanning works for most customers, but the app can also be downloaded onto Android compatible industrial scanners. 

  We have some Customers that use these newer android devices for industrial scanning: 

  • Android 11 Barcode Scanner
  • Android 13 Barcode Scanner
  • MUNBYN Android Barcode Scanner
  • Android Barcode Scanner C66

  Thanks for the response; I particularly appreciate getting some actual product recommendations, as I have been requesting that in various ways for some time.  For my understanding, are you saying the New app from the Google store will use the laser scanner instead of the Camera on these devices. Many thanks.

  That's correct, the app uses the laser on the scanner to look up the product number via the barcode.
