Receiving into a location within an outlet

    Good afternoon James Clark,

    Thank you for your query.

Outlet Locations are primarily used for separating Products/Recipes into physically-separate spaces & being able to manage within core-Adaco a 'shelf-to-sheet' counting sequence; from a transactional perspective, e.g. Receiving, Requisitions/Transfers, & Sales depletions, the inventory is held at the overall Outlet-level & cannot be chosen within a transaction.

We recommend that for Outlets such as central storerooms/warehouses that need to fulfill requisitions through the use of Pick Lists, where the physical location is relevant, to use Location-based Outlets noting that it requires an extra level of effort to manage the Locations; for all other Outlets, we recommend Category-based since within Adaco Mobile: Counting App, the Outlets themselves can build & manage Areas outside of core-Adaco to expedite the counting/inventory process.

If you enable Receiving Enable Shelf Life (or Authorize temperature validation), the relevant data would need to be entered in core-Adaco Receiving for the respective categories of Products but as I alluded to above, the Location would not be prompted as it is not transaction-dependent.

Please let us know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.

    Thanks David, that's very helpful

My follow on question would therefore be, how do users attribute stock to a location, if this isn't required information at the point of receiving?

    Good morning James Clark,

Stock is not attributed to a specific location via the transactions themselves, whether Receiving, Requisitions/Transfers, or Sales depletions, etc.; the value is held at the overall Outlet level, cumulative of any inventory/stock-takes plus or minus transactions.

While multiple locations, or again our recommendation of Mobile Counting Areas in most Outlets, allow for added efficiency for the stock-take/inventory process, it does not have any operational impact on the transactions that occur during the period.

    Hi David

I'm coming on this one - I have a product that is showing in 3 different location inventory guides. Can I tell Adaco at the point of transacting with the product which location to use? e.g. I have a stock receipt and I want to receive it into Location 1.

    Thanks

    James

    Hi James,

No you cannot, as from a transactional perspective, e.g. Receiving, Requisitions/Transfers, & Sales depletions, the inventory is held at the overall Outlet-level & cannot be chosen within a transaction.
