The Change

The functionality for updating menu items to sites has been updated. Two new security settings have been developed:
 
  • Update PLU – Allows users to update a menu item’s PLU number.
  • Update Sales Price – Allows users to update a menu item’s sales price.
These settings replaces the previous security option ‘Update PLU’ that allowed users to carry out both actions if they were assigned full access. 
 
For users who had full access to the replaced ‘Update PLU’ setting, they will have full access to both these settings by default.

Reason for the Change

The change was carried out to give administrators greater control of the updating of menu items. It will allow separate groups of users to work on menu items.

 

Customers Affected

All Inventory customers with the Stock Module enabled. The change also affects customers who use Recipe & Menu Engineering (formally StarChef)/Master Data to update Inventory.

Update PLU Setting

If the ‘Update PLU’ security setting is disabled the user will not be able to update the PLU number when updating a menu item to site. In the example below the user has access to ‘Update Sales Price’ but not ‘Update PLU’.

  • In Fig 1  above the user may only update the sales price of the menu item.
  • The PLU fields are disabled and the user may only update the selling price of the menu item.
  • Fig 2 below shows the updated menu item.

Update Sales Price Setting

If the ‘Update Sales Price’ security setting is disabled the user will not be able to update the sales price when updating a menu item to site. In the example below the user has access to ‘Update PLU’ but not ‘Update Sales Price’.

  • In Fig 3 above the user may only update the PLU of the menu item.
  • The sales price fields are disabled and the user may only update the PLU number of the menu item.
  • Fig 4 below shows the updated menu item.

Recipe & Menu Engineering Users

 
These changes also affect users who use Recipe & Menu Engineering to publish recipes to Inventory.

  • When publishing to R9 the security settings will determine if the PLU and Sales Price fields are enabled in the in the dialogue box shown in Fig 5 above.
