Correct measurements are the bedrock of taking Inventory. Since they are so important, Inventory (the product) gives users the ability to create custom units of measurement that can be assigned to both their vendor items and their inventory items. For example, if a business finds that a number of items they purchase typically come in 20 count packages, they will have the ability to create a unit of measure to convey that.
Users can get to the Unit of Measure page by opening the side navigation menu in Clarifi once they are in Inventory, clicking the Setup tab, and choosing Units of Measure.
Setting up a Unit of Measure
On the units of measure page, you can view previously made units. To create a new unit, select Add Unit.
Unit Name will be where you can select the title for the unit
Since names must be unique, attempting to use one that already exists will give you an error message.
Class will control whether the unit is based on count, volume, or weight.
Once a class has been chosen, the Type field will open up. This is where you will choose whether the unit of measure is Imperial or Metric. If you chose Count for the class, the type will automatically be listed as none.
Base Unit will change depending on what you have selected for the class and type, and cannot be edited. The unit displayed in this field is considered the lowest unit for what you have chosen under both class and type.
# Base Units will be used to determine how much of the base unit is in the unit you are creating. For Example, there are 453592 grams (the base unit) in a pound (the unit I am creating).
To save your new unit, select Ok.
