HotSchedules has two features available for companies to manage employee requests for time off. This article will be an overview of the Requests feature with links to articles explaining how to use this.

What is the Request Feature?
The Request feature allows employees to mark days that they would like to have off in advance. When the managers are writing the schedule for that week, days that were requested off are highlighted in the scheduler. Employees can also submit requests to work with this feature. Managers have the ability to block certain dates from employee requests, and they can also restrict how far in advance a request must be submitted.
How is the Request feature different from Time Off?
The main difference is that the Request feature does not have an approval/denial process. Employee submit their requests, and managers choose to whether honor the request when they write the schedule for that week. Time Off gives managers a notification every time anyone submits a request, and it must be approved or denied. With requests, managers can restrict the time frame that requests must be submitted by, but they will not receive any notifications letting them know how many people have made requests. They can run the Employee Request Report to view all requests made during a specific time frame.
