Templates are a solid foundation upon which you can schedule your week. After forecasting your week, you will have a good idea how much your store may bring in, and your templates can tell you how much staff you may need based on that information.
To apply a template, click the Scheduling tab, and then navigate to the week you want to schedule.
Then click the Tools icon, and select Templates.
In the window that opens, choose the schedule you’d like to start working on. Find the template that best fits the sales projections for the week, and click Apply.
The apply option only appears when the schedule is sometime in the future (of course), is empty of any shifts, and is not posted. You are able to un-post a schedule, and reapply a template, but it cannot contain any shifts.
HotSchedules will then populate that schedule with the shifts from that template - either as house shifts, assigned shifts, or both.
It is then up to you to adjust the schedule to account for special events and individual staffing needs.
