Meal & Break Planning in HotSchedules allows you to more easily regulate, as the name
suggests, the planning of both meals and breaks while scheduling. In order to do this,
however, rules must be set up so that the Scheduler can properly track them.
In the Above Store Console, you can create rule sets, comprised of the necessary rules,
which can then be assigned to specific locations and, ultimately, staff members.
To create a rule set, hover over Configure in the top navigation bar, and select Meal &
Break Planning in the drop-down menu that appears.
To add a new rule, click Add Rule Set.
You can then create the first rule of this rule set, made up of various allocations.
A. Give the rule a descriptive name.
B. Choose whether this allocation reflects a meal or break. Meals are always unpaid.
C. Enter the minimum shift length to earn a meal or a break.
D. Enter the duration for the meal or break.
E. Check this box if the allocation should repeat after every eligible time frame.
After saving the first rule, you’ll be taken to the Rule Set page. Here you can name the rule set. You can also add more rules to the rule set by clicking the blue Add button.
The rule marked as default will be the rule given to staff members at each store unless overridden individually in each staff member’s profile.
Click the Stores sub-tab when finished.
In the Stores sub-tab, you are able to assign this rule set to the appropriate locations. You can search or filter to find locations easier. Then check the box next to all locations that need this rule set.
Save when finished.
